Celebrating Moms in an Organized Way

Happy Mother's DayMother’s Day is Sunday, May 13. As an Organizer, I try to be mindful of not bringing more stuff (AKA….clutter) into someone’s home. I try to purchase gifts that are meaningful to the recipient, and most importantly are usable or have a true shelf-life. Here is just a sampling of great gift ideas for mom (some that can be purchased locally).

Flowers/Gourmet Baskets

Robin’s Corner Flower Shop will work their magic by crafting a beautiful and customized floral arrangement for any mom. They also have specialty gourmet baskets for purchase.

Chocolates/Cakes/Delicious Confections

Treat mom with some tasty confections. The ladies that own Pop Culture and Molly B Cakes have delicious goodies to purchase. I’ve sampled from both and oh my yumminess you will not be disappointed!

Massage

Lisa Evans is a Hypnotist and Massage Therapist at the Body Maintenance Place in Raynham. As a client, I can sing her praises. Her specialties include therapeutic massage and hypnobirthing, perfect for the mom-to-be.

Digital Picture Books

You can quickly and easily create a picture book for mom using pictures from your phone and computer. My go to site is Shutterfly, but there are many online sites that you can use. Your book can tell a story or be a compilation of fun, family memories. I make my mom an 8×8 picture book every year (for Christmas). She can stick it in her purse and pull it out when she wants to show off her really amazing grandson!

Greeting Cards

We all love to receive “fun” mail but greeting cards can be tough to part with. Many people have issues with being able to toss out greeting cards. To help avoid the overabundance of cards that mom receives (and potentially will hold onto), consider sending electronic cards. Obviously, mom will need to have an email address to receive an e-card (and not everyone does…but fret not, I have a solution for that as well).

DoozyCards is an online e-card business that provides a distinctive selection of thoughtful and original e -cards for every occasion. A cool feature is that a portion of your premier membership proceeds goes to St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, the largest privately funded meals program in the US.

TouchNote is an online business where you can customize and send post cards, photo cards and canvas prints. It’s super quick and easy… you customize a card and the company prints it and mails it to the recipient. The cost of these cards is much cheaper than purchasing a card in the store and for the sender that lets the occasion sneak up on them, this service is a lifesaver! Even though the recipient does receive a card (and that contradicts what I said above), I list this service because it is a time-saver for the sender.

I hope that you’ve gained a few ideas for this Mother’s Day! And don’t forget, most moms just want to be surrounded by their kids and families on Mother’s Day. A day well spent with family doesn’t cost money or cause any clutter and the value is priceless!
