All Systems are “GO Month”

I’m definitely not someone that makes New Year’s Resolutions. However, I do think of each new year as being able to start fresh on a clean slate. Of course, as the craze of Christmas quiets down, I’ve been purging items from my home and organizing those areas that have perhaps gotten a little out of hand or neglected….ahem — the linen closet, under the kitchen sink, and the hall closet (cringe!).

It seems so fitting that NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals), of which I have been a member since starting my business, has deemed the month of January as “GO Month” or Get Organized Month. It’s the perfect time to take charge and tackle the clutter and chaos in your life!

  • Do you have problem areas in your home that you just can’t get too?
  • Do you get overwhelmed with decision making when it comes to letting go of personal items?
  • Do you find yourself going on a scavenger hunt from room to room trying to find ‘the something’ that goes with ‘this something’?
  • Do you stick (let’s be honest…. jam) things in closets and drawers to get them out of sight, yet never revisit them again to find their proper home within your home?
  • Are you constantly looking for misplaced items?
  • Are you able to get your home organized but have trouble keeping it organized?

If you say YES to any of these questions, it’s ok. It happens! It’s also ok to wave the flag and ask for help. Organizing is an ongoing task – it’s not a one and done kind of a thing. It’s also not as simple as putting things away, it’s taking the time to figure out what makes sense (for you and your family) on where things live in your home to get you into a habit of maintaining the organization.

I love what I do…. working with clients to help them to declutter, to organize and to setup systems in their homes to help them to stay organized. Having an organized home allows you to save time, save money and to create efficiencies. I’m so thankful to be able to call myself a Professional Organizer. It truly is my dream career!
