Between recovering from foot surgery and not having the mental or physical capacity to do much; and three unexpected snow days for my kiddo, I forgot to let you all know that yesterday, February 13, was National Clean Out Your Computer Day! I hope that you know about this day already but if you do not, it is a great time to, well, clean out your computer! We rely so much on technology and our files and inboxes can become quite chaotic. If you take the time to do a few (or all) of these helpful tips, your computer will serve you better, and you will become more organized.
- Organize files and folders. I have a habit of saving files directly to my desktop. Keeping files in their respective folders will help keep your desktop clean.
- Delete duplicate files; including pictures.
- Delete old files, programs, and apps that you no longer use.
- Archive files and folders that you do not need regular access to. For example, old taxes. Archiving or zipping files increases disc space on your hard drive.
- Organize bookmarks and file them on your bookmark toolbar for easier reference later.
- Delete mail in your inbox that you have not touched or read in months. Chances are, at some point, you were saving said emails for a reason. Set a time limit and ditch old email from that point and beyond.
- Unsubscribe to mail, newsletters, sites that you do not regularly look at.
I hope these tips have been helpful to you! If you have others, please share below!
